The firm was founded in 1946 by Marinos Bernitsas and its main areas of practice, until 1975, were civil and commercial law. In the 70’s Panayotis Bernitsas joined the firm and gave it an international orientation: European Community Law, International Business Law, Banking Law and Project Finance became the main areas of practice. In the 80’s and 90’s, the firm expanded steadily, and currently consists of twenty six (26) attorneys-at-law in total, eight (8) partners, fourteen (14) associates, four (4) counsels, four (4) legal assistants and independent experts collaborating on an ad hoc basis.
The firm’s managing partner, Prof. Panayotis Bernitsas, is an Associate Professor at the law School of the University of Thrace where he lectures on European Community Law, International Financial Law and Law of International Business Transactions. He also lectures at the University of Athens as a visiting Professor.
